Ecumenical Monasticism in the Benedictine Tradition

In addition to our 12 canonical member monasteries, the Federation of St. Gertrude is enriched by two affiliated ecumenical monasteries. These autonomous communities embody the Rule of Saint Benedict within ecumenical and interdenominational expressions, fostering Christian unity, contemplative hospitality, and environmental stewardship across North America.

Rooted in the sixth-century wisdom of Saint Benedict, these affiliated communities share reciprocal ties of fellowship, prayer, and mutual support with our Federation. They extend the Benedictine charism into unique interchurch settings—uniting women and men across denominational lines through choral Liturgy of the Hours, deep silence, earth-centered care, and hospitality to seekers of all traditions.
